Event Overview

Overview:
On January 20, 2009, the National Coalition for Technology in Education and Training (NCTET) will mark the inauguration of the forty-forth President of the United States of America and the new 111th Congress by holding the Bytes & Books Inaugural Ball at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C.  This black-tie affair will feature fine food and beverages, top notch musical entertainment, and a distinguished list of attendees, including Members of Congress, administration officials, education leaders, corporate leaders, media, education stakeholders and dignitaries. In addition, NCTET will also present its Community Builder Award to outstanding education and technology leaders.

This will be the inaugural ball for leaders in the nation’s technology and education communities to honor the swearing-in of America’s new President and Congress.  We will join together leaders from around the country in the nation’s capital on this historic day and raise the profile of education and the role of technology.

This 2009 Bytes & Books Inaugural Ball will be the primary fundraiser to support NCTET’s initiatives.

Event History:
The 2009 Ball will be the 4th Inaugural celebration hosted by NCTET over the last decade.  At the 2005 event at the Folger Shakespeare Library, Senators Mike Enzi of Wyoming and Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia served as Honorary Co-Chairs and recording star Mary Wilson of the Supremes performed.  U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings was among the honored guests.  Presentations and recognition of NCTET’s Community Builder Award recipients were part of the evening’s program.
